Instead of the usual mix of fun and fundraising, Derwentside had arranged an Anthony Nolan Clinic, where potential bone marrow donors are informed of the process before giving a blood sample to be placed on the national register. The Anthony Nolan Trust is the RTBI National President's nominated charity this year and it was an added bonus for Derwentside that Adrian Gibbons was able to travel North to support their efforts. Rob Grinter (Derwentside) reported "The President was well pleased with Area 20 turnout. The clinic did suffer from the the clash with holidays but this was the only date we could get from the Trust". With a steady stream of people over the two hours, Rob added "The Trust are happy with the 23 donors who attended". Area 20 Chairman, Steve Ginger gave his thanks to the lads of Derwentside Table for organising the clinic and for going along to be tested. He said "This event was a good opportunity to meet potential new members and make an important contribution to a very worthy cause". Although it was a team effort, Steve thanked Rob Grinter for playing a significant part in making the event happen and for putting a further 23 onto the register. Why not get your Table to support the National Presidents chosen charity this year by running an Anthony Nolan Clinic. Last year 458 lives were saved by donors attending these clinics.
